Head Coach Biographies
This year, we have the following head coaches flying in from Europe as well as several coaches and assistant coaches from our local community.
Andrew Gillespie
Head Coach
Hi. I’m Andrew, I’m 21 and this will be my first year at ISA. I study Architecture at the University of Edinburgh, however the distraction of being an avid fan of both football and Call of Duty is detrimental to the cause. If I’m not playing one, I‘ll possibly be doing the other, otherwise I’ll probably be doing something else. I love youth work, not just for all the good fun but also because of the opportunity that arises to be a positive Godly influence upon someone. As I became a Christian as a result of this, I would want nothing more than to see young people come to God. I heard NW Soccer Academy was good banter, so I thought I’d better come.
Caitlin Calhoun
Head Coach
Hi, I'm Caitlin Calhoun and I'm 19. I've been coaching soccer since I was 12 in this area and for the past 2 years I have been living in Scotland working with young people, telling them about God and His love for us in schools and after school programs. I am looking forward to being home this summer coaching at some great camps, including this one, and seeing what God has in store for me before I return back to Scotland to start university.
Jacob Devadason
Head Coach
Hi I’m Jacob Devadason, I’m 22, and from Manchester, England. I support Liverpool!! I have been playing football, since a very young age and love it! I am really looking forward to the NW Soccer Academy camp, as it will be my first and just counting the days down now.
I can’t wait to share the wonders that have happened in my life through God and defiantly getting to know about yours.
I’m so looking forward to a great week and meeting new people :)
John Gillespie
Head Coach
I am John Gillespie. I am 17 and I am from Forres the north-east of Scotland. I have played soccer all my life and I love to teach others how to play. I have just completed school and I work as a part-time lifeguard and swimming teacher. I hope to pass on my knowledge of our great God and lots of soccer technique at a fun-packed camp.
Paul Charles
Head Coach
I've been coaching kids soccer for the past 10 years throughout England, Scotland and the U.S. I started off working for an organisation called Youth For Christ when I was 18 and stayed with them until enrolling in college in Philadelphia 3 years ago. I'm now learning more about the bible so I can teach it in churches and youth groups, and I spent the last three months in Jerusalem walking where Jesus walked! I'm looking forward to coaching this summer and watching as much of the World Cup as I can!
